Our Caring Hands Ministry is a group of individuals that meet once every two weeks on Tuesday afternoons from 1:30 – 3:30 p.m. from September to May. Please call the church office to find out when the group is scheduled to meet again. The participants in this ministry knit or crochet prayer shawls or lap blankets for the sick or bereaved and mitts, hats and scarves for the children in our neighbourhood and local schools. During this time together, the participants enjoy fellowship and refreshments. This group is primarily comprised of St. Margaret’s members but anyone is welcome to join this ministry. It would be helpful if you already know how to knit or crochet and read patterns but group members are more than willing to teach anyone who would like to learn. At least twice a year, all of the knit items are blessed during our Sunday worship service. A prayer card is also attached to the item so that the recipient knows they have been blessed both through prayer while they are being made and at the altar as part of our community’s worship. The shawls are distributed based on requests received. We provide shawls/quilts for Baptismal candidates. The hats and mittens are given to the local schools and they give them out as needed. They are usually delivered by the Priest, the Pastoral Care Coordinator, the Caring Hands Ministry Coordinator or a friend or relative of the sick or shut in person. For more information about this ministry, please speak to Susan Humphreys.
